Wenatchee wins game 2 vs. Kitsap

The AppleSox won game 2 of the series Wednesday night against the Kitsap BlueJackets by a score of 3-2.

The BlueJackets took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Sox pitching staff managed to hold them there throughout most of the game. Wenatchee scored a run on a balk in the 4th inning to tie the game at one, and pushed another across in the 5th inning after Ryan Gorton scored from second on a throwing error by the Kitsap second baseman. Wenatchee increased the lead in the 7th inning after Kyle Johnson reached base on another error by the Kitsap second baseman, then stole second. Tommy Reyes then singled to score Johnson and give Wenatchee the 3-1 lead. Kitsap would score in the 9th, but it wasn't enough and Wenatchee won 3-2.

Zach Gallagher started the game for Wenatchee and pitched 4 innings. He allowed just one run, which was unearned, and gave up 4 hits and 4 walks while striking out 4. Paris Shewey then came in to pitch the next 3 innings where he recorded 3 strikeouts without allowing a hit, but did walk 2 batters. Seth Haehl was used in the 8th inning setup role where he pitched a perfect inning including 1 strikeout, and then handed the ball over to Jesse Moore to close out the game. Moore gave up one run in the ninth, but held on for his 3rd save of the season. Shewey is credited with the win and improves to 1-1 on the year.

Wenatchee improves to 13-4 in league play and sits 3 games ahead of second place Kelowna, who will come to town Friday night. Game 3 of the Kitsap series will be played tonight.
