AppleSox Head to Bend for Weekend SeriesPosted by ffadmin in Untagged |
The AppleSox hit the road to begin their first series of the season with the Bend Elks. Wenatchee opens the three-game weekend series at Vince Genna Stadium on Friday. It will be the first time the AppleSox and Elks have played since facing off in the 2010 WCL Championship Series.
Wenatchee will start University of Kentucky junior Alex Phillips on Friday. Phillip Ferragamo will toe the rubber on Saturday and Owen Jones will wrap up the series with the Elks on Saturday. First pitch on Friday and Saturday is set for 6:35 pm and Sunday’s game will begin at 5:05 pm
The AppleSox longest stretch at home of the 2011 season wraps up with single games against Walla Walla on Monday and the last non-league game of the year Wednesday against the Portland Baseball Club. Monday’s game with the Sweets is the rubber match of the series that began July 3rd and the 4th, with each team pulling out a come from behind victory.
The Wenatchee AppleSox Baseball Club teamed up with Apple Valley Honda to make a donation to the Royal Family Kids Camp after “Go Green” night at the ballpark on June 24th. To highlight the ecologically-friendly Honda product line that was on display at the ballpark, the AppleSox wore special green jerseys during the game as the AppleSox beat the Portland Ports. After the game, the jerseys were auctioned off to the highest bidder. The net proceeds totaled $780.

The AppleSox are back at Paul Thomas Sr. Field for the team’s longest stretch at home of the season. The nine-game homestand began in grand fashion on Sunday night. The AppleSox won a 13-inning battle over the Walla Walla Sweets 2-1 on fireworks night in front of 1,985 fans, the second largest crowd in team history.
The AppleSox annual July 3rd post-game fireworks display is set for this Sunday. Bring the family out to the ballpark for a great night of baseball followed by a post-game fireworks show.
The Applesox hit the road to face the always tough Corvallis Knights in a three-game series beginning Thursday. It will be the second and final series during the regular season between the two teams. Wenatchee took two-out-of-three from Corvallis in the first series, but the Knights ended the AppleSox WCL record 14-game winning streak.
The expansion Klamath Falls Gems are making their inaugural trip to Wenatchee on Monday to open a three-game series with the AppleSox. The two teams have already met this season, with the AppleSox sweeping the first series played in Klamath Falls.
The AppleSox are back at home this weekend for a two-game non-league series with the Portland Ports. It will be the first non-league games of the season for the AppleSox, who will take a break from WCL play five times this summer. The Ports are a member of the WCL-Portland and feature players from colleges around the northwest.
After a nine-game road trip the AppleSox finally return home to begin a three-game series with the Corvallis Knights. The streaking AppleSox enter the series on a 14-game winning streak, the longest in team history.
