AppleSox pitcher Lawrence Chew was named Co-West Coast League Player of the Week after picking up two saves in as many attempts against Bend and Corvallis last week.
The Hawai’i freshman saw action in 7.0 innings, striking out ten batters and allowing no runs.
Chew just joined the Sox last week after the team returned from Bellingham, but has already made a huge impact on the mound. His ten strikeouts rank him first on the club for relief pitchers and his two saves are tops on the club as well. He has only allowed four hits.
The southpaw just wrapped up his inaugural campaign in the Aloha State, where he posted a 2-3 record with a 2.40 ERA. Chew appeared in 22 games for the Warriors, starting three.
Chew shares Player of the Week honors with Bellingham catcher Jarel Lewis. Both players helped their respective teams to five wins last week.
