The AppleSox have returned to Wenatchee for a three-game series with the Cowlitz Black Bears and have done so in a big way.

The Sox (11-2) routed the Black Bears (3-8) last night 13-0 to win their league-best ninth straight game. The win moves Wenatchee one game ahead of Bellingham for the top spot in the West Coast League’s East Division.

The AppleSox used a six-run first inning to seize control of the series opener and never relinquished it. Wenatchee put up ten runs in the first three innings combined and used a stellar defensive performance in the victory.

Derek Callahan went 6.0 innings on the mound for the Sox, striking out nine batters and only giving up three hits. Josh Rapacz and Ryan Drobny each drove in three runs apiece, and Wenatchee never looked back.

The Sox return to the diamond tonight for the second game of the series at 6:05 pm. We will have special ceremonies in recognition of Father’s Day. Game three will be played on Monday at 7:05 pm.

Game tickets can be purchased in advance at www.applesox.com or at the Town Toyota Center box office. Tickets are also available for purchase on the day of the game at the Paul Thomas, Sr. Baseball Stadium ticket booth, which opens one hour before each game.
