The Wenatchee AppleSox Baseball Club teamed up with Apple Valley Honda to make a donation to the Royal Family Kids Camp after “Go Green” night at the ballpark on June 24th. To highlight the ecologically-friendly Honda product line that was on display at the ballpark, the AppleSox wore special green jerseys during the game as the AppleSox beat the Portland Ports. After the game, the jerseys were auctioned off to the highest bidder. The net proceeds totaled $780.
The primary purpose of Royal Family Kids Camp is to give children from abusive situations a week of positive memories in a fun Christian environment. In addition to receiving the attention and encouragement of an adult camp counselor and his/her "buddy camper," each camper is also exposed to a variety of fun activities, designed for their success and to build self-esteem. Activity centers, games, sports, hiking - sometimes even swimming, fishing and horse-back riding - are all part of the program.
In an effort to raise more funds for the camp, the Children's Charity Classic Golf Tournament will be held at Highlander Golf course Friday, August 12th. The shotgun start will begin at 12:30 pm. Openings are still available for individuals, teams, and hole sponsors. For more information contact Mark Ward (509) 679-6822 or visit www.childrenscharityclassic.com
