The No. 16 Wenatchee AppleSox and Bellingham Bells will square off in a big divisional battle tonight at 7:05 to begin a four-game set at Paul Thomas, Sr. Baseball Stadium.

The Sox (32-15) are coming off a series road sweep of the Kelowna Falcons and have clinched a playoff spot in next week's divisional series. Bellingham (28-18) currently sits 3.5 games back after falling to Walla Walla 4-3 in the series finale.

The Sox and Bells split the season-opening series in Bellingham at two games apiece. The series has the same implications this time around. It's a battle for supremacy in the East Division.

Bellingham can clinch a playoff spot automatically if they sweep the series with Wenatchee.

The Sox come into this series riding a wave of momentum -- winning their last five contests in fairly convincing fashion. Wenatchee combined for 45 runs in four games against Kelowna.

Series Sweep Sweeter for Sox This Time Around

The Sox hadn't swept a league series since June 26-28 when the Sox took all three games from Kitsap. But this sweep meant more to Wenatchee for a couple of reasons. Aside from clinching a playoff spot, two Sox plastered their names in the West Coast League record books.

In the Monday contest against Kelowna, Tyler Kane set the single-season record for saves with his 12th. However, it didn't end there. Mitchell Gunsolus entered last night's contest tied for the league record in hits (66) and runs scored (39) but broke both in the top of the 7th inning.
