East Division Earns WCL All-Star Game Victory PDF Print E-mail

corvallis all star gamelogoThe East All-Stars pulled out the 4-2 victory over the West at Goss Stadium in Corvallis to win the 2011 All-Stars. The East featured ten AppleSox players and were led by the Wenatchee coaching staff.

AppleSox southpaw Alex Phillips earned the victory in front of an All-Star Game record crowd of 2,517 in Corvallis. The University of Kentucky junior pitched a scoreless second inning.

Cowlitz outfielder Spencer O’Neil, a freshman-to-be at Oregon was named the game’s MVP after picking up three hits, including a home run. Corvallis Knights pitcher Ben Wetzler earned the Top Prospect Award, voted on by representatives of 24 MLB teams who attended the game. Before the game Sean Myrom from the Corvallis Knights won the Home Run Derby, beating Bend’s Royce Bollinger in the final round.

The 2012 WCL All-Star Game is scheduled for Walla Walla.
