Wenatchee AppleSox Baseball Club

The Wenatchee AppleSox and Wenatchee Valley College have signed a new agreement to extend the team’s lease at Paul Thomas Sr. Field for the next four seasons. The AppleSox have played at Paul Thomas Sr. Field on the campus of Wenatchee Valley College since the team’s inaugural season in 2000. The new four-year lease agreement will run through the 2015 season.

“I appreciate Jim Richardson and athletic director Greg Franz for working hard to create an agreement that will allow us continued use of Paul Thomas Sr. Field each summer,” said AppleSox owner/general manager Jim Corcoran. “It’s a win/win/win situation for the college, the AppleSox, and our fans.”

Corcoran was joined by Wenatchee Valley College president Jim Richardson to announce new lease agreement during the AppleSox playoff game against the Walla Walla Sweets. Richardson threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game.

“We love having the AppleSox as partners. They bring so many people to campus for what is one of the best family entertainment values you can find. We are happy the AppleSox will be staying for at least another four years,” said Richardson.

Paul Thomas Sr. Field serves as the home of the Wenatchee Valley Knights baseball program during the school year and is the home of the AppleSox during the summer. The stadium includes 1,200 fixed seats that feature both general admission and premium seating. The premium seats make up the lower bowl around home plate and were brought in from the Kingdome before it's implosion in March of 2000.

The AppleSox have enjoyed on and off the field success since beginning in 2000. The team has won and four of the seven titles in the West Coast League’s young history. The 2011 version of the AppleSox set the WCL record for most wins in a season with 39 and were ranked as high as third in the county in the Perfect Game CrossChecker summer collegiate baseball poll.

At the gate the team also broke the single season attendance mark after Saturday’s playoff game. The AppleSox welcomed 43,591 fans to Paul Thomas Sr. Field for an average of 1,320 fans during the 33 home games. The previous record for highest single season attendance was 42,774 set in 2010.
