WSU-WVC-SU_WebsiteThe AppleSox will be well represented by in-state schools this summer with the latest additions to the team’s pitching staff. Washington State University left-handed pitcher Bryce Jackson, Wenatchee Valley College left-handed pitcher Mitch Yada, and Seattle University right-handed pitcher Blaine Jones have signed to play in Wenatchee.

“There is so much talent throughout our state and we are fortunate to have these high caliber baseball programs provide us with players,” said AppleSox head coach Ed Knaggs.

Youth Clinic Registration Forms Now Available

Youth_ClinicsRegistration forms for the popular AppleSox Youth Instructional Clinics sponsored by Subway and the Nickel Ads are now available. The annual summer clinics are for boys and girls ages 6 and older who want to improve their baseball and softball skills. Forms can be downloaded  by clicking here. The clinics feature AppleSox coaches and players as instructors over three sessions that cover pitching, hitting, and general

The AppleSox offer three separate sessions with emphasis on; pitching, hitting and a general skills session. Each session runs for three days from 9:00 AM - Noon.

AppleSox Sign Pair From Oregon State

OSU_Website_2012Two players from one of the Pac-12’s premier baseball schools will call Paul Thomas Sr. Field home this summer. Oregon State University is sending a pair of freshmen, right-handed pitcher Riley Wilkerson and outfielder Ryan Howell to play for the AppleSox.

“We have had a great relationship with Oregon State for many years,” said AppleSox head coach Ed Knaggs. “They are a fantastic program and every player they have ever sent us has been very well prepared to play in our league.”

Hawaii Sending Duo of Impact Freshmen

Hawaii_Website1The University of Hawaii’s top hitter along with a lefty arm are the latest additions to the AppleSox roster. Infielder Stephen Ventimilia and left-handed pitcher Lawrence Chew will spend their summer in the Pacific Northwest with the AppleSox.

“We have had a long relationship with the University of Hawaii and every year it is exciting to receive the high caliber players that they send us,” said AppleSox head coach Ed Knaggs.

Two Toreros to Play for the AppleSox

USD_Website_2012The University of San Diego will provide the AppleSox a freshman hurler along with one of the most highly touted high school shortstops this summer. The Toreros are sending right-handed pitcher Drew Jacobs and infielder Tanner Rahier to play in Wenatchee.

“The University of San Diego does an excellent job of recruiting and each year we reap the benefits with the talented players that they send us,” said AppleSox head coach Ed Knaggs.

AppleSox Add Trio from California Schools

USF_and_Cal_Poly-1Three schools from “The Golden State” will provide the AppleSox players for the 2012 season. Cal Poly infielder Ryan Drobny, University of San Francisco catcher Tyler Schultz, and Glendale Community College pitcher Kirk Edson will join the AppleSox this summer.

As only a freshman Drobny was the starting first baseman on opening day for the Mustangs. The left-handed hitter from Danville, Calif., earned first team All-East Bay Athletic League honors after his senior year at San Ramon Valley High School.

AppleSox Sign Top Division III Talent

PLU_GF_WebsiteTwo of the top Division III baseball programs in the northwest are providing the AppleSox with a pair of players this summer. Left-handed pitcher Trevor Lubking and outfielder Taylor Wattenberg from Pacific Lutheran University, along with infielder Derek Blankenship and catcher Josh Rapacz from George Fox University will spend their summer in Wenatchee.

Both PLU and George Fox play in the Northwest Conference, which features nine schools located in Washington and Oregon. PLU won the Northwest Conference Championship in 2007 and 2009 and has provided the AppleSox with key contributors Josh Takayoshi and Brock Gates in recent years. George Fox has put together sixteen straight winning seasons and in 2004 captured the Division III National Championship.
