Comeback Bid Falls Just Short In Season Finale

YAKIMA, Wash. - The Wenatchee AppleSox (27-31, 24-30) finished the season in a close 4-3 contest with the Yakima Valley Pippins (32-25, 29-25) at County Stadium in Yakima. 

The AppleSox fell behind early, with the Pippins making good on a bases-loaded walk in the first inning. Yakima Valley also added two runs in the third inning, following an error and two singles. 

Wenatchee scored a run in the fourth after a single for Mitchell Holland. A wild pitch and a passed ball set up Holland to score on a second wild pitch in the inning. 

The Pippins added their fourth run on back-to-back errors and a sacrifice bunt for an RBI. 

Wenatchee came back for a second run in the sixth inning on an RBI single for Joey Jansen, and nearly mounted a complete comeback in the ninth inning on a double by Evan Douglas and an RBI single for Keston Hiura. 

The AppleSox will be back in action June of 2016, when the 2016 season opens at Paul Thomas Sr. Field!
