JOHNSON WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AFTER STELLAR WEEKEND

WENATCHEE, Wash. – The first WCL Player of the Week honor (June 1-4) went to AppleSox outfielder, Evan Johnson, the league announced, Monday. Adam McKillican from Victoria took home the title of WCL Pitcher of the Week.

Johnson went 5-for-12 (.417) in the AppleSox season-opening series against the Walla Walla Sweets, and clubbed two home runs to left field in Wenatchee’s 5-4, loss Saturday.

All four of his RBI came by way of the home runs, and Johnson is currently riding a three-game hitting streak.

His multi-home run performance was just the sixth in the all-time history of the AppleSox, and the third in as many years. Four other AppleSox players have hit two home runs in a game, and one of those players accomplished the feat twice.

Johnson also stole a base on the weekend.

The Wenatchee AppleSox will head to Victoria for a three-game series, June 5-7. All three first pitches are at 6:35 p.m. The AppleSox play their home opener in Wenatchee Thursday, June 8 against Victoria. For more information, fans can visit www.applesox.com.
