Vincent DeMarco wins Pitcher of the Week!

Seven innings. Two hits. Two strikeouts. No runs.

When the dust settled on Vincent DeMarco’s second start of the season, the Victoria HarbourCats had no clue what hit them. The dominant outing undoubtedly won him Pitcher of the Week in the WCL, and showed exactly why the incoming freshman is heading to Saint Mary’s next spring.

DeMarco faced the minimum four times in the game. What’s more impressive is that he never once let a runner reach second base. He did allow two hits and one walk, but those runners never had a chance to get into scoring position.

Punching out only two batters doesn’t seem all that impressive. But DeMarco’s ability to force weak contact and use his defense cannot be understated. The ‘Sox infield and outfield were lock-down all evening, and backed up their rookie-righty.

The outing gave DeMarco his first win of the season and lowered his ERA to 1.35. His summer thus far has been fun to watch, and this performance was no exception.
