The 'Sox are championship bound!

Against their North Division rivals, in one of the most important games of the year, the AppleSox positively pummeled the Bells 18-4 in the Division Championship game. The blowout win punches Wenatchee’s ticket to the WCL Championship, where they will face off with the Corvallis Knights.  

Despite Bellingham striking first in the second, it was all AppleSox after that. In the bottom of the second, it was Ryder Young who started the party with a solo home run to right field to get Wenatchee on the board. Soon after, Paxton Bigby launched a ball 388 feet over the same right field fence to score three runs and give the ‘Sox the lead.​

What ensued was a beat-down of the Bells. Wenatchee tallied 14 runs in the proceeding six innings. The offense was highlighted by bases-clearing triples from Zach Doyle and Raphael Dunne, along with a two-run double from Noah Fields.

Pitching was near-flawless all evening. Sean McGrath got the start, and despite getting into trouble numerous times, managed to hold Bellingham to one run. Joe Thornton took over for him in the fifth, and managed to strike out the last batter to end the frame. Finally, Chihiro Sato got the rock and picked up his first save, tossing three innings to close it out.

The win was one of the ‘Sox biggest blowouts of the year, and it came in one of their most crucial games of the season. Now, they are back in the WCL Championship after missing out the year prior.

Wenatchee has won five titles in the WCL and has been to the championship eight times. With this being their ninth cameo, they are teed up for their first championship in 14 years.

The penultimate game will be hosted at 6:35 p.m on Thursday at Paul Thomas Senior Stadium.
