AppleSox come from behind to beat Victoria

After going undefeated on the road trip, the ‘Sox kept the momentum going against the HarbourCats. They beat Victoria 5-2 in the first game of the series, coming from behind to power their way to the win.

The Cats got out to an early lead, scoring one in the first and one in the fourth. After falling behind early in the game, Wenatchee locked in.

Landon White and Zach Doyle both crushed solo home runs back-to-back in the fourth, tying the game and swinging momentum back to the ‘Sox. White’s was a towering fly ball to left field, and Doyle’s was a monster slam 420 feet to straight-away center.

Then, Michael Podstreleny singled to give Wenatchee the lead in the same inning. Flash forward to the sixth inning, and the ‘Sox tacked on two insurance runs.

It was a bullpen day for Wenatchee, throwing five different arms. Alec Johnson got the start, but only went one inning. Then it was Miles Barnes and Miles Ducharme who combined for three innings. Colin Fraser then came out to spin three innings of relief, allowing just two hits and no runs.

Finally, Joe Thornton took the reins in the eighth and got the save, tossing two innings and keeping the Cats scoreless.

The win extends their win streak to seven games and keeps the ‘Sox hot before they go into playoffs. They continue the series tomorrow with first pitch at 6:35 p.m at Paul Thomas Senior Stadium.
