GAME NOTES

Wenatchee Probable Pitcher: Matthew DelVecchio makes his second start of the summer after getting the ball last Saturday... He started strong by striking out three and only allowing one baserunner on a hit by pitch in three hitless inning but then allowed five runs on five hits and a walk in the fourth to get chased... DelVecchio previously pitched in the WCL with the Bellingham Bells in 2022, recording a 3.37 ERA with nine strikeouts, 10 hits and four walks over 13.1 IP in three games (two starts)… He posted a 5.29 ERA with 38 strikeouts, 50 hits and 32 walks over 51 IP in 11 games (11 starts) as a sophomore at Edmonds this spring…

Port Angeles Probable Pitcher: Riley Ricken also started last Saturday and surrendered seven runs (all earned) on eight hits... Wenatchee tagged him for one run in the second on a leadoff home run by Antonio Gianni before scoring three runs in the third and three more in the fourth...

Last Night: The Lefties flipped the script by recording a big inning against the AppleSox... Port Angeles overcame two different deficits and took the lead for good by recording a five-run bottom of the sixth... Wenatchee put together three different innings with at least five runs scored over the weekend... The Lefties also scored five runs in the fourth last Saturday...

Unbeaten No More: Wenatchee’s bid for a 5-0 start in league play was dashed with last night’s loss... The AppleSox did win their first five games if Monday’s non-league win against Redmond is included and that represented their best start to a season between league and non-league play since winning five straight games (three non-league, two league) to open the 2004 season... Wenatchee matched a franchise-best start to a season in WCL play this summer with the 2009 campaign but the 2001 season still holds the record for the best start in league play after the AppleSox opened the summer 5-0...

4-for-4: AppleSox catcher Joe Scheffler recorded four singles in last night’s game as part of a perfect night at the plate... His four hits were the first by an AppleSox catcher since Carson Ohland also recored a four-hit game as the ninth hitter in the order on July 11, 2023 at Nanaimo... Dylan McPhillips (June 16, 2019 vs. Walla Walla) and Hunter Montgomery (June 28, 2019 at Cowlitz) are the only other two AppleSox catchers in the last 14 seasons to record a four-hit game...

RISP: After going 2-for-14 at the plate with runners in scoring position on Tuesday, the AppleSox went 4-for-9 in RISP opportunities last night... They Started the game 3-for-5 thanks in part to a two-run double by Fred Buckson and RBI single by Joe Scheffler in the fourth inning...

Hartman Among League Leaders: Reigning WCL Player Of The Week Max Hartman recorded his fifth consecutive multi-hit game to open up the summer last night with singles in the first and sixth innings... His .500 batting average, three doubles and eight runs are tied for second in the WCL... The incoming junior at Washington State is tied for first with 11 hits and 14 total bases...
