Three Righties Signed To 2025 AppleSox
/AppleSox head coach Mitch Darlington announced on Monday the addition of three right-handed pitchers to the 2025 roster. Broden Palmer, Jace Taylor and Aidan Gonzalez will join the club and provide pitching depth.
Palmer is a sophomore right-handed pitcher at Virginia Commonwealth University who previously pitched at Portland. He has a 7.59 ERA with eight strikeouts and six walks over 10.2 innings in five games. Palmer’s best performance came Feb. 22 at then-No. 14 Clemson, when he hurled 4.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout, one hit and one walk in a 4-3 loss.
The Kennewick, Wash. native recorded a 8.10 ERA with two strikeouts and a walk over 3.1 innings in three appearances for the Pilots. Palmer graduated from Southridge High School in 2023 and recorded a 2.85 ERA with 62 strikeouts and 28 walks over 59 innings in 15 games.
Taylor is a right-handed pitcher at Lewis-Clark State College who also previously pitched at Yavapai. He and the Warriors won the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament last weekend. Taylor has a 6.75 ERA with 21 strikeouts and 11 walks over 13.1 innings in 11 games out of the bullpen. He did not pitch in 2024 but posted a 2.08 ERA with 13 strikeouts and three walks over 8.2 innings in five relief appearances in 2023.
The Cornville, Ariz. native appeared in one game in 2021 at Yavapai before appearing in 14 games the next season. Taylor had an 8.78 ERA with 15 strikeouts and 13 walks over 13.1 innings in 2022. He graduated from Mingus Union High School in 2021.
Gonzalez is a junior right-handed pitcher at San Diego. He has combined to appear in 38 games over the last three seasons with all but two of those coming in relief. Gonzalez got into 22 games as a freshman in 2022 and posted a 5.09 ERA with 21 strikeouts and 12 walks over 23 innings.
The Hacienda Heights, Calif. native graduated from Warren High School in 2021. He earned All-League First Team and Pitcher of the Year honors there while also being team captain as a senior. He punched out 10 batters in a no-hitter senior year and struck out 95 over 65 innings in 14 games.
The AppleSox open up their 25th season May 30 when they face the Yakima Valley Pippins at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium. The 2025 season consists of 30 home games and concludes in mid-August.
