Eleven Former Or Future AppleSox Earn 2025 NWAC All-Region Honors

The Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) announced its 2025 All-Region honorees on Thursday morning and 11 different members affiliated with the AppleSox were recognized.

Former AppleSox assistant coach Mike Callia led the way by being recognized as West Region Assistant Coach of the Year. Callia was an assistant coach with Wenatchee from 2023-24, helping lead them to the postseason both seasons and a combined 72-39 regular-season record. He led the AppleSox pitching staff to the fifth-best ERA (3.35) in the WCL in 2023 and has helped Lower Columbia record the second-best ERA (2.65) in the NWAC this season.

Joe Thornton, who pitched for the AppleSox in 2024 and is signed for the 2025 season, earned an infield spot on the Second Team East Region. He pitched in two regular-season games with the AppleSox and has thrived with Spokane this spring after redshirting last year. The Tonasket native hit .342 with 23 RBI in 44 regular-season games while also posting a 2.38 ERA in nine appearances on the mound.

Nine newcomers signed to the AppleSox for the 2025 season were also honored by the NWAC Thursday.

The AppleSox open up their 25th season May 30 when they face the Yakima Valley Pippins at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium. The 2025 season consists of 30 home games and concludes in mid-August.
