Wenatchee wins their 14th series of the year!

14 series wins. That’s what the ‘Sox locked up last night with their 8-4 win over the Kelowna Falcons on the road. The game was tied up 4-4 in the ninth inning, and Wenatchee pulled off some late-game magic to steal the win from Kelowna.

The Falcons struck first in the opening frame, capitalizing on numerous errors for the ‘Sox. However, Wenatchee was able to tie it up with an RBI-walk from Kanoa Morisaki in the proceeding frame.

The ‘Sox and Falcons then exchanged blows for the next four innings, inevitably tying the game at four runs going into the ninth. Wenatchee loaded the bases in the final inning, and then scored in the most bizarre way possible. Aidan Lopez popped a ball straight into the air right above home plate. However, the Falcons’ infield was unable to make a catch, and it dropped right in front of the plate, resulting in the go-ahead run scoring.

Immediately after that, James Castagnola teed up a pitch to deep right-center field and cleared the bases with a three-run RBI double.

Now with an 8-4 lead, the ‘Sox slammed the door on the Falcons. Joe Schuyleman pitched in the ninth and sat down the side in order to confirm the win.

Derek Render was the starting arm for the ‘Sox, and he spun an impressive outing. He went six innings, allowing just three hits and only one earned run. After him, Schuyleman pitched the remaining three innings and put the Falcons to bed. He allowed no runs off no hits and struck out the last batter to end the game.

Now with 14 series wins on the season, the ‘Sox are set up for their fifth series sweep in game three against Kelowna. First pitch for the sweep decider is 6:35 p.m tomorrow night at Elks Stadium in Kelowna.
