'Sox sweep the Falcons aside in game three

For the fifth time this year, the AppleSox broke out the brooms. With their 9-3 win over the Falcons tonight, they put the cherry on top of their 14th series win of the season.

The ‘Sox scored all nine of their runs in the first three innings, and then coasted their way to the ninth. It was abysmal pitching for the Falcons that handed Wenatchee all of their runs, with Kelowna’s starting pitcher Jacob Beaudoin walking six runners and allowing six runs to score in the first two innings.

After him, Josh Butters coughed up three runs off two hits and three walks. With a 9-1 lead, the ‘Sox just needed to fend off the Falcons for the remaining seven innings.

Colin Fraser was making his first start of the summer for Wenatchee on the mound, and he did not disappoint. He spun six innings of three-run baseball, striking out four batters while allowing six hits.

After him, Levi Grothen took over in the seventh and shut down the Falcons. He allowed no runs off three hits and struck out five batters to close out the game.

Four AppleSox batters recorded multi-hit games, with Ryder Young and James Castagnola smacking multi-RBI games. It was truly an ensemble cast that made up the Wenatchee offense in the sweep decider.

Now, the ‘Sox head north to play the Kamloops NorthPaws to end the road trip. Game one begins tomorrow at 6:35 p.m at NorBrock Stadium in Kamloops.
